Internet Access General Information :

Computers and fee based printers are available from opening time until fifteen minutes before closing. A library card in good standing is required to sign on to a computer or to place a reservation. In general, computers are used for one hour. Under certain conditions, time may be extended if no other patrons are waiting. No more than two people may be seated at one computer for safety and privacy concerns.

Wireless Internet Access (WiFi) :
Free wireless Internet access is available at the Library. You do not need a plug or phone jack. Just turn on your notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device to access the Internet.

To use the WiFi, you need a notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device with 802.11b or 802.11g wireless networking capability. If you are not sure if your notebook/laptop computer or other device has this functionality, please check with the manufacturer or supplier of your equipment. Should your notebook/laptop computer or other device not include wireless networking, you may be able to purchase a variety of external notebook/laptop PC cards and USB devices. The manufacturer or supplier of your equipment or local computer vendors can help you find the right product for your notebook/laptop computer or other device. Library staff will not provide technical assistance and no guarantee can be made that you will be able to make a wireless connection. The patron is solely responsible for his or her equipment.

We have tried to make WiFi access "hotspots" available in every area in our library, but you may encounter a "dead" spot where wireless reception may be limited. If you have trouble accessing the Internet or staying online please move to a different location within the Library.

Please be aware the WiFi Internet access offered is filtered as mandated by the state Office of Library and Information Services. By choosing to use this free service, you agree to abide by the Middletown Public Library's Internet Use Policy.
